Taking Classes and Doing Projects
I always dreamed of making games, now I do. They are not magnificent by any margin, but I enjoy the process. I started this as a weekend project and it grew a bit. Adding ai, making everything work, recording voice lines - a blast. There are some things I would change, I would like to vector art draw the wormies, I would like to make my own music, I would like smarter AI, I would like bigger challenge, but fair is fair, best to get some feedback first. I'm also working on CS50 in the background, trying to improve myself at every caliber.
The dream is to become the biggest and the bestest, but no really the goal is to make the games I imagined up as a kid. You know, like everyone does that, I want to turn that into an empire, maybe I will make a visual novel next - who knows, Andrew Hussie knows. He always knows, we all know that. The process changes a bit with every release, I get a bit smarter, and more wise to the flow of things. I'm not sure I make what people want to play, but people are playing Walk the Horizion, maybe I have a future in platformer, who knows.
The wormies have two controls, moving straight or in a curve, controlled with a single button, makes AI simple, makes gameplay simple, I knew it could be done, so I did it. I just desire MORE from this project. I don't know what, but its lacking, ah well. There are other projects I can refine in the meantime, did I mention Walk the Horizion? Its doing well and I can't wait to see what I can offer that game! Those bosses will get a total makeover by the time I'm through!
So you might be wondering, how do I of all people, talking about you here, get into game dev. Well. I recommend CS50! I've been following that course and though I may have 7 years of experience programming, it has been invaluable to me. Well that all, ta ta.
