Generative Music and Text to Speech
v0.15 Has Arrived!
I had no idea how to implement music and text-to-speech before today. And by music, I mean randomly generated music made by the CPU. I ended up asking ChatGPT for help, as it showed some skill in making a Vampire Survivors like in Godot. Like everyone says, it was blazing fast at making up results and I spent a lot of time debugging its code and adapting it so it actually worked. In the end, some sound was coming out but it didn't sound very good. If you load up the game, you'll have noticed the music doesn't compare really to anything made by a human. I find it ok as background noise for the game.
There was difficulty in getting text to speech working. Everything in this game is text driven, so I thought it wouldn't be too hard to get text to speech running. But the result was a day's labor and I'm still not happy with how it turned out. It may vanish all together, as every Godot implementation of text-to-speech has some quirks, or I might have to update this project to 4.0 to keep text to speech. In any case I learned something new, so there's that.
Lastly I added looking with 'k' to ease knowledge of tiles, and make the landscape easier to see for unsighted folks.
I hope you enjoy this update.
